Collection: The Scheherazade Collection
The Scheherazade Collection is a dream that I have been waiting on a long time. I started Verses in 2018, always intending that eventually we would launch a demi-fine line. I found inspiration in travel, art and history; I wanted to design jewellery that would reflect the human experience across time and across lands.
As with the Renaissance Collection, Verses' demi-fine offering should still evoke a sense of wearable poetry. The notions from which we’ve created art, architecture, literature and myths find a home reimagined in Verses’ jewellery.
Scheherazade of One Thousand and One Nights was the perfect inspiration for what I envisioned. I imagine Scheherazade standing at a balcony on a peaceful summer evening, the night sky above a myriad of colours and alive with bright stars. The palace is an elegant backdrop of white marble and chequered harlequin floors. Her fingers sparkle with tasteful gemstones.
This final edit is a collection that perfectly blends Art Deco and Eastern design elements. I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re modern, but each piece is absolutely wearable every day of the 21st century. All of the pieces are handmade by jewellers in Jaipur, India in sterling silver with a gold-vermeil plating and set with semi-precious gemstones including emerald, turquoise and aquamarine.
